As a long-established timber merchant, the directors of Fulham Timber are fully aware of their responsibility towards the natural environment. In this age of growing awareness of environmental issues, Fulham Timber is chain of custody certified.
As a company we wholly embrace the policies of these organisations and are committed to the purchasing of the timber and sheet materials from legally and sustainable forest sources. As a company we firmly condemn the practice of illegal logging, and we are fully conversant with the convention on the trade in endangered species (CITES).
It is company policy to ensure that we use approved suppliers who obtain timber and sheet material from forest areas where the rights and traditions of the indigenous population are preserved and who adhere to the policies of the ILO core convention. Also, that timber is harvested in a safe and ethical manner. And that it is not harvested from (a) areas with high conservation values (b) nor from an area where timber has been genetically modified (c) nor from areas of natural forest that have been converted to plantations for non-forest use (d) nor which has been illegally harvested.
In order to ensure we can supply timber and sheet material from identifiable sources to our customers, Fulham Timber use chain of custody certified suppliers each with their own individual chain of custody number. Deliveries of chain of custody certified material from our suppliers can be tracked all the way through from clearly defined forest sources of documentation to deliveries made by Fulham Timber to their customers. Fulham Timber has in place a fully traceable chain of custody for chain of custody certified products and is subject to an annual audit to ensure conformity.
