Our hardwood Balau decking is especially selected and imported from Indonesia. The board is a reversible profile with castle grooves on one side and a reeded profile on the other side.
It does not need any treatment and is ready to use externally. You can if you wish, choose to add decking oil later on but essentially the decking is ready to fit and use.
Technical details for the wood scientist in you:
Botanical name - Shorea Iaevius ridl, from the Dipterocarpeceae family.
Other common names: Bangkirai, Yellow Balau (although not yellow in colour).
Due to it's inherent strength and durability, Balau is used in many areas of the world in heavy construction, marine and boat building, however in the UK it is almost entirely imported for decking.
You will also find a full range of C24 treated timber, screws and hangers on our website, should you need these materials to build your deck frame.
